Should you make your own skincare products?
How often do you consider the question of purchase or DIY (do it yourself) for skin care products and treatments? Everyone, by now, has seen something on Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook, in a magazine or online, about your favorite skin care product from a store that you paid good money for, being re-created with an at home copycat version.
When is the last time you looked at a product from, say Lush™, one of the trendiest and fastest growing companies in the skin care industry, and think that you could make this product if you knew the steps and had the ingredients, which are easy to get? This is where the debate between deciding to buy that item or take longer route, and make it at home yourself.
Well, you absolutely can make many of these products yourself! Your favorite face masque, scrub, face wash, exfoliant, conditioning mud, the list goes on and on – can all be made at home easily! It’s just about taking the time and actually doing it. You will be amazed at the results!
Of course, there are some products you just wouldn’t be able to make at home easily, or at all, and that’s okay! If you like the DIY approach, simply focus on a few items that are easy to make, affordable, and best of all, effective.
There are many items, even super high-quality items, that are a staple in most beauty routines worldwide. A simple bath bomb, which is good for only one bath, can cost up to $10; a mud masque designed to condition and hydrate the skin will retail around $30 more or less; and a good quality natural facial scrub will run around $25 for most popular lines. Given the explosive growth of the organic and natural skin care market, the question is, why not try making some of your own skin care treatments?
