However, when used over time and applied regularly, home remedies for acne and natural treatments do help reduce swelling and improve the overall condition of the skin. Here are some natural, healthy skin solutions you can try for your treating mild to moderate acne at home, starting with this basic face wash:
- Simple Face Wash
This simple face wash helps to clean pores then close them after cleansing.
All you need to do is mix the following ingredients in a bowl:
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Pour a small amount of mixture onto a clean wet washcloth or sponge and gently wash your face, then rinse.
- Tea tree oil and Aloe Vera gel are very effective in treating pustules. These have anti- bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help in the healing process. Try applying some tea tree oil directly on your face, twice a day, after washing your face. An aloe vera mask treatment is a good option for not only treating your acne condition, but also improving your skin’s health. You can evenly apply it on your face, or eat it as food.
- Lemon Juice and Rose water – Add lemon juice and rose water in equal quantities and apply this mixture on the affected area for about half an hour. Regularly following this procedure for about three to four weeks is one of the most popular natural home remedies for improving the skin.
- Apple and Honey Mask – Prepare a mask with grated apples mixed with honey. Apply to the skin for 15-20 minutes – rinse it off with warm water followed by a cold rinse.
- Garlic makes an excellent treatment for pimples and acne due to its well known antibiotic properties. Peel and mash the cloves of fresh garlic and then apply to face. Make sure you avoid the eye area. Leave it on the face for about 15 minutes, then rinse it off with a warm cloth.

Things You Should NOT Do:
Do not over-cleanse or over-scrub your skin – this will make acne worse when it damages the skin’s barrier and increases irritation.
Do not use harsh products – these are irritating and drying. Rather look for pH-balanced products to keep the skin conditioned and balanced.
Don’t switch products too soon. Acne needs time to heal. Except for spot treatments designed to calm and lessen size of lesions in 12 – 24 hours, most products need 6 – 12 weeks to work.
Do not use too many products at once – this is a common mistake. When people don’t see immediate results they ply more products to the problem. This does not change the outcome and adding more will only irritate the skin.
Do not pop or pick pimples – this prolongs healing time and increases the risk of scarring.
