This simple recipe for de-puffing and hydrating the eye area is quick, simple, and effective. The tannin in the green tea de-puffs the eyes, while the jojoba balm hydrates delicate skin. You will need:
- 1 ½ teaspoons Jojoba Oil
- 1 ½ teaspoons Shea Butter
- 1 cup Water
- 2 Chamomile Tea Bags
- 2 Green Tea Bags
In a small bowl, mix Jojoba oil and Shea Butter and set aside. Microwave the water for 1 minute and steep all the tea bags for a few seconds. Remove and squeeze out tea bags. Place the Chamomile tea bags on the upper eye lids of each eye. Place the Green Tea bags on the under eye area of each eye.
Relax for 10 minutes. Remove bags. Dip clean fingers into Jojoba-Shea Butter balm and gently dab around eyes.
Viola! Your eyes will look refreshed and hydrated.
It’s harder than you think to keep your lips soft – especially in harsh weather conditions and dry climates. This lemon-honey scrub with coconut oil is guaranteed to keep your lips kissably soft and smooth. This recipe will make enough balm to last a few weeks. You will need:
- 1 ½ teaspoons Honey
- 1 ½ teaspoons Sugar
- Juice of ¼ Lemon
- 1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
- Contents of 1 Vitamin E Capsule
- 1 drop Lemon Essential Oil
Mix honey, sugar and lemon juice in a bowl. Combine remaining ingredients in another bowl. Rub honey mixture over lips with fingertip and gently massage in a circular motion to exfoliate. Rinse, then dab coconut blend on lips to soften. Keep remaining ingredients in the fridge to preserve.
Dry skin is not only an issue to address during the winter months, those with chronically dry skin, or who live in dry climates need to focus on keeping dry skin nourished and protected at all times. The fatty acids in the avocado in this recipe will nourish dry skin while the oil spritz (yes oil) will lock moisture in the skin. You will need:
- 1 Tablespoons Sweet Almond Oil
- 2 Vitamin E Capsules
- 1 Ripe Avocado, peeled and pitted
- 1 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 Tablespoons Plain Yoghurt
- 1 Teaspoon Honey
Pour Almond Oil and contents of Vitamin E capsules into a clean spray bottle – shake well to blend. Combine remaining ingredients in a bowl and blend until smooth. Spread Avocado mixture on dry skin (you can even include your hair) and relax for 20 minutes. Rinse. Lightly spritz damp skin with oil mixture and massage until absorbed.
DID YOU KNOW?
Europeans have used olive oil to moisturize, cleanse and protect their skin for centuries. Americans are less inclined to use oil on their skin, but the ‘trend’ is catching on and the benefits to the skin are measurable.
Those with oily skin often struggle to find simple remedies to control oil and calm irritated skin. They often over dry the skin in an attempt to control the oil, which only stimulates more oil. Here is a simple recipe that will help clear pores and calm irritated skin. You will need:
Mash papaya in a bowl. Add and blend the yoghurt. Dissolve Epsom salts in a large pot of water. Add the tea bag to the water and bring to boil. Remove water from the heat and slowly place face over pot for 3 minutes (cover your head with a towel to allow steam to collect around your face). After steaming, spread Papaya mask over face and leave for 10 minutes. Rinse and pat skin dry.
