Natural beauty is in this season. Putting your best face forward and showing your healthy skin beneath a gently bronzed face not only makes you look the picture of health and vitality, it compliments this season’s bright corals, reds, pinks and other eye popping colors.
Trending from the runway to celebs, a natural, healthy, bronzed glow is easy to achieve. Tips from makeup artist Dick Page who created the look for Michael Kors’ spring collection, makes this easy.
Inspired by his frequent trips to South Africa, Michael Kors is known for his use of bronzer to achieve a natural, healthy look on the runway. For this season’s trend, select a bronzer that is only two or three shades darker than your own skintone to avoid looking ‘fake’.
Simply apply the bronzer across the cheekbones, over the forehead and on the tips of the nose and chin.
He recommends touching up the eyebrows with a blend of shimmery cream shadows (he used taupe, ash brown and black).
For the eyes, he uses gold cream shadow on the inner corners of the eye and the center of the lids and completes the look with a black mascara.
Finally, Dick Pages tops the natural bronzed effect off with a few dabs of caramel colored lipstick which tones down the lips and adds brightness to pales lips.
A Great Look for Any Age
Health conscious celebs like Cate Blanchett, who is known for her luminous skin which she owes to her life-long habit of avoiding the sun, wears bronzer to give her skin a healthy glow. Keeping it simple, she tops her look off with mascara and lipstick, making her one of today’s natural beauty icons (and recent spokesperson for SK-II).
