In an effort to beat the clock and help turn back time, we tend to focus on anti-aging treatments for the face and often neglect the neck and jawline. The result, the neck, chin and jaw can look older than your rejuvenated face.
To avoid that, there are a number of remedies to tighten sagging necks and slack jaw lines – most of which can be performed in an office setting in less than an hour.
iGuide Surgery for Sagging Neck and Chin– This is a neck lift procedure that can provide patients with a firmer, more youthful neck line without the need for a comprehensive surgical procedure. This minimally invasive neck lift requires a single, minor incision, and results in immediate results and virtually no scarring.
The iGuide procedure requires very little recovery time, and creates a lasting, natural-looking neck contour without the need for general anesthesia. The entire procedure takes roughly an hour to complete, and combines minimal liposuction with a suture that is placed under the skin to tighten the neck and chin. Average cost is $3,500.
ATX-101 Injections for Double Chin – ATX-101 is an experimental injectable treatment for double chins. It’s a new non-surgical procedure that is designed to destroy submental fat with just four injections. Once ATX-101, which is a diluted acid, is injected into the chin area, it dissolves fat cells which are then carried away by the body’s own lymphatic system.
Common reactions to the injections are swelling, pain, bruising, numbness, and redness, but none of these adverse symptoms have required treatment. Three to six treatments, spaced a month apart are needed to achieve the desired effect. So far, pricing for this ground-breaking procedure has not been set, since the treatment is still in clinical trial phase.
Hydra-Solve for the Chin – this is a fat-vacuuming technique that was FDA approved in 2010. In this simple procedure, a small incision is made and excess fat is suctioned to create a more desirable effect under the chin.
You can expect minor pain and some bruising. After the procedure you will wear a chin strap for two to three weeks at night. Average cost for this procedure is $3,500.
Ulthera Ultrasound for a Slack Jawline – this is a new type of non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that uses ultrasound and the body’s own natural healing process to lift, tone, and tighten loose skin along the jawline, under the chin and on the neck.
FDA approved, Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to stimulate the deep structural support layers of the skin, without disturbing the surface of the skin. Using a wand, the doctor simply zaps the neck, chin and jaw line to ‘create’ an injury to the dermis. Over the next 3 months, the tissue around the chin and jawline tightens and tones.
The procedure can be a little uncomfortable, resulting in redness, bruising and sometimes, temporary numbness. However, there is no downtime – you can go about your day after a single office treatment. A single treatment averages $1,500.
